Feeding Services
Specialized treatment for children with sensory motor feeding and swallowing challenges

In the Artz Center for Developmental Health & Audiology’s feeding services program, we help kids learn to eat a variety of nutritional, age-appropriate foods that are necessary for growth, development, and learning. We use a team approach, creating partnerships among therapists who specialize in feeding treatment, allied medical practitioners (when indicated), and family members. Feeding interventions may include:
- Self feeding
- Oral feeding/swallowing skills
- Food texture/taste progression
- Oral awareness/saliva control
- Bottle-to-cup transitions
- Non-oral to oral feeding transitions
- Positive mealtime experiences
Our clinical feeding specialists thoroughly assess each child and create treatment plans when needed. Treatment plans are tailored to meet the needs of both the child and the family, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as appropriate. They are based on principles of children’s neurodevelopment and evidence-based practice.
